today is my birthday. My first birthday as a dad with two children. here's my present from Oli and Fin. looking at them is awesome and mindblowing at the same time, but in an unbelievably brilliant way.
paternity leave i'm finding, is a time heavy on emotion. there was the birth itself which was absolute magic, sudden, exhausting, raw, uncut, a totally pure human experience. i'll never forget it. there's the endless visits from family and friends, all giving you big love. and then seeing my young son acknowldege his new baby sister. that's a proper choker.
it's also odd having your mind abruptly removed from work. one minute presenting to clients the next cutting an umbilical cord on my sofa. i haven't got much time for blogging right now. too much going on and my blog is in danger of becoming full of dadisms. this clip was inspired by beeker's Stevie Wonder post. this was my wedding song, my first dance and it makes me smile right now.
Findley is two today. we bought him his first digital camera (above), Fisher-Price of course. it's wicked, you use it like binoculars and it bounces if dropped. he's still working out how to use the viewfinder and when to press the capture button but i shall be posting some of his shots shortly. maybe a flickr account?
anyway i took the day off and we went to woburn for a bit of safari. it was lovely. here's some giraffes.. they are truely bonkers creatures
he's not yet two but he wants to drive the car. in fact he now wants to get into the driving seat instead of going for a walk. i'm not a big car fan. so where does this desire come from?
