i like a text wall. people's micro posts around a subject area (in this case music at the electric proms) makes for interesting reading. plus it's living, it evolves and changes. should be much more outdoor work that invites people to comment

derek does glastonbury

i thought this competition from Orange was brilliant, put together by the smart folk at Poke, using the unpredictable nature of a real life, large farm animal as the focus of the idea is genius.

i played it twice and only went and bloody won! yes! i've never won a competition in my life, apart from a spelling prize when i was 6, it was a tennis ball i think?

i shall be going with my kids, it will be the first time in many years i don't go as a performer. oh yes indeed, a performer, that's what the ticket used to say. i would grace the turntables on the Radio 1 stage on the thursday night for several years and a number of shifty soundsytems over the weekend.

This year will be very different, i'm very excited by the prospect of an alternative Glastonbury experience as i take Findley to his first festival, seeing (interesting in itself) other sides of this truly marvellous event. Anyway, nice one Derek, your position last thursday at 3pm was spot on.

can i touch your screen?

one future direction for computer/mobile display screens is multi touch sensing screens. and it's pretty blooming exciting i'd say. developed by jeff han it's going to encourage creativity and playfulness in new ways, as well as lowering the barrier of software knowledge and stuff, getting more people involved.
i'm imagining the iphone screen will be the first micro step or iteration of this on a mobile, going by the photo stretching clip that's knocking about.
when i look around the office, we're all tapping away on keyboards hunched forwards towards a screen, looking a bit odd actually. should be pretty cool when we are standing at a big screen, gracefully stroking or frantically tickling away at a presentation. sort of tai chi meets rave moves scenario. a whole new set of gestures and interactions to be learnt. it's got to be a better more exciting and interesting way of connecting with a screen than using a keypad? and it's going to open up all sorts of new possibilities (and issues) i'm sure. i can't wait.
